Jazz at Lincoln Center's new home is a multi-room facility perched above Central Park, with bandstands posed against soaring walls of glass and a dance floor laid out beneath the moon and stars. The first facility ever created specifically for jazz, Jazz at Lincoln Center's new home will be a state-of-the-art performance complex and will offer a vast array of educational resources, including the Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame, which will entertainingly convey the history of jazz to all age groups.
"The whole space is going to be dedicated to the feeling of swing, which is a feeling of extreme co-ordination. Everything is going to be integrated: the relationship between one space and another, the relationship between the audience and the musicians, will be one fluid motion, because that's how our music is."
— Wynton Marsalis, Artistic Director, Jazz at Lincoln Center
The grand opening of Frederick P. Rose Hall will feature an inter-generational celebration of great jazz families and will be a historic day for the organization and for jazz. JALC will produce an extraordinary variety of opening concerts and programs in each performance venue, as well as events showcasing the organization’s varied educational programs.
