About Stephen Sondheim
A native New Yorker, Stephen Sondheim was childhood friends with the son of famed lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II. He eventually studied with Hammerstein himself. Sondheim's early work was limited to writing the lyrics accompanying other composer's scores. He soon broke from this and began composing his own scores as well as lyrics. His most noted early works include West Side Story, Gypsy and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. His later works include A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd , Assassins and Sunday In The Park With George for which he won the Pulitzer Prize. His most recent musical, The Frogs, debuted in 2004.
About Jonathan Schwartz

His recent memoir, All In Good Time, published by Random House, received national appreciation. He's a diehard Red Sox fan (is there any other kind?), which shows a certain dedication and passion against all odds, and he winds down the weekend with his unique view on the cultural life of the city, both as an observer and participant.
