Is Adolfo Carrion set to head a new White House office of urban policy? The Bronx borough president drew attention two weeks ago when he reportedly told students he'd be heading to a new job in DC. But now he's trying to be a little more discreet. WNYC's Arun Venugopal caught up him at a Hanukah event.

REPORTER: Adolfo Carrion's in a bit of a bind. He can't really say whether he has a job in the Obama administration. But his supporters repeatedly - and publicly - wish him well on his future journey, like at this Hanukkah event in the Bronx. Just as he gently taps down the rumor, a woman approaches and wishes him good luck in Washington.

CARRION/WOMAN: Thank you... Do us proud....thank you, thank you.

REPORTER: But Carrion insists he's still the borough president, and any speculation otherwise is premature. For all the support he has locally, others in the Bronx say Carrion's not qualified for the Obama administration, and that he sold out the community while securing funds for the new Yankee stadium.
