Citizen's Union Calls For Massive Changes in Election Law

After a multi-year review the good government group, Citizen's Union, is calling for sweeping changes to state and local election law, including a constitutional amendment that would do away with bi-partisan election boards.

Executive Director Dick Dadey says party interests stifle any advance in much-needed election reform because Republicans and Democrats can never agree on anything.

DADEY: So it's gridlocked. And a lot of the people who work within the system are there because of patronage and partisanship.

REPORTER: In recommendations Citizen's Union will release later today the group calls for a Chief Elections Officer to be appointed by the Governor, or mayor, to run state and local elections.
