NJ Holds Primary Election

New Jersey voters have until 8 p.m. to pick the candidates who will run in November's election. Early turnout appears light and no significant problems have been reported. The major statewide race is the Republican primary for governor.

Former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan have dominated the three-man race. Assemblyman Rick Merkt trailed both in polls.

All expressed confidence after voting earlier in the day. The winner will face Gov. Jon Corzine in November. The Democrat has had token opposition during the primary.

Corzine says he wants a second term because he loves the job. He'll be joined at a rally in West Orange by Vice President Joe Biden. The men served together in the U.S. Senate.
