Sikh transit workers forced to wear MTA logos on their turbans since 9-11 will appeal to local legislators today at City Hall. Two of the workers are suing the MTA claiming the policy amounts to religious discrimination.

Amardeep Singh is the executive director of the Sikh Coalition and says there are other ways for workers to display the MTA logo on their clothing.

SINGH: I'd like to think that the turban and the hijab if you're Muslim, are a sacred space and there's no need to brand those religious articles of faith. We shouldn't be branding them.

An MTA spokesperson says the policy is necessary for identifying MTA employees.

Singh says if the policy doesn't change, legislation may be the next step.
