David Mack Resigns from MTA and Port Authority Boards

MTA vice chairman David Mack has resigned from the boards of the transit agency and the Port Authority, one day after state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo threatened legal action to force him out. Mack, a real estate developer and former State Police official, initially refused Governor Paterson's request that he resign from the unpaid posts. That request followed Cuomo's report that Mack failed to cooperate with an investigation into undue political interference at the State Police. Mack was a political supporter of former Governor Pataki and held an unsalaried position as deputy police superintendent from 1995 to 2007.
