New York, NY —
Ten library branches around the city will now open earlier and close later to meet growing demand. The mid-Manhattan library on 5th Avenue at 40th Street is one that will expand its hours, opening at 8 am and closing at 11 at night.
Darin from New Jersey, who works in Midtown, says she's thrilled she'll be able to use the library more.
DARIN: People are getting back to reading. They come here to get their DVDs and their tapes. Instead of going to the store and buying stuff, you can come here and it’s great entertainment.
Hours are also being expanded at branch libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island, the three boroughs served by the New York Public Library system.
