Winter Storm Rail and Road Updates

Updated: 3:45 p.m.

New Yorkers planning an early exit home because of the winter storm are getting assistance from transit officials.

RAILROADS
The Long Island Railroad and Metro North have added more trains. Metro North riders may want to take advantage of this, since the commuter rail service says it plans to decrease service after 5 p.m.

New Jersey Transit is operating with minimal delays but expect a 45-minute delay if you take the bus.

Much of Amtrak's rail service has been suspended today due to the snowstorm. ACELA express trains and northeast regional trains between Washington, DC, New York, and Boston are operating on a limited schedule.

BRIDGES AND TUNNELS
If you're traveling on the inbound upper or lower levels of the George Washington Bridge, or headed through the Lincoln or Holland Tunnels, expect minor delays due to the weather. There are 25 mile per hour restrictions in effect on the Henry Hudson Parkway Northbound, on the RFK Bridge, on the Bronx Whitestone Bridge Northbound, on the Clearview Expressway Throgs Neck Bridge Northbound and on the Goethals Bridge.

AIRPORTS
The majority of airlines at Newark Liberty Airport, JFK Airport, and at LaGuardia have canceled their flights today. Check with your individual carrier for updated flight status information.
