Goodbye to Fez

Last night, a well known little club on the corner of Great Jones and Lafayette Streets on the edge of Manhattan's east village closed its doors after thirteen years.

Fez Under Time Cafe could seat one-hundred-and-thirty people and offered an eclectic mix of live cabaret, comedy, and music. Unknown and emerging acts spent time on its stage, as well as icons like Johnny Cash and Joni Mitchell.

WNYC's Kathleen Horan visited the club before Fez closed to hear from some of the people who knew it best.

Music heard in the piece:

Zero Boy

The Losers Lounge

Johnny Cash

Jeff Buckley

Cynthia Hopkins
