New York, NY —
It's not clear whether the New York Jets will go to Queens or stay in New Jersey, but if they come back to the city, the site will probably be in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
REPORTER: That was the only conclusion from a meeting yesterday between Jets president Jay Cross and Queens Borough President Helen Marshall. Cross says the team started looking for new sites after plans for a new stadium on Manhattan's West Side fell apart.
CROSS: Now as a result of the Olympics not coming to New York, sites that were heretofore unavailalbe are perhaps available. The site that we discussed today was in fact the whitewater course in our Olympic bid. We don't need a whitewater course right now.
REPORTER: The Jets and officials in Queens say the land taken up by the new stadium would be replaced by another park, but Marshall couldn't say where the new park would be located. Bernard Spigner of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority -- which manages the Meadowlands -- says he hopes the Jets can remain in New Jersey.
