Pace Poll Shows Bloomberg with Major Lead

The latest Pace University Poll shows Mayor Bloomberg positioned to trounce his Democratic rival Fernando Ferrer.

The Pace poll shows that incumbent Mayor Michael Bloomberg getting 58 percent of the vote, compared to just 27 for challenger Fernando Ferrer. The poll shows Bloomberg beating Ferrer among whites, blacks, and even Latinos, where he is up by 18 points.

According to Pace, Bloomberg would even beat Ferrer in the Bronx - that despite Ferrer's years of service as borough president. The poll portrays an electorate mostly satisified with life in the city. The issues most on voters mind are terrorism, improving the city's schools and building more affordable housing.

The PACE poll has a margin for error of 4 percentage points, is based on a survey of more than 530 voters and was conducted in cooperation with New York Observer, WCBS and WNYC.
