City Releases School Survey

The city has unveiled a survey that will help it monitor school performance, but it's has already drawn fire from some parents. They're concerned the questionnaire doesn't address key topics like class size and standardized testing.

REPORTER: Mayor Bloomberg says it's impossible to satisfy everyone and the city has to move forward.

BLOOMBERG: We do listen to people in focus groups, but just because you come up with an idea doesn't mean that it's going to be implemented. Sometimes it's not practical, sometimes there are other things you have to get done first.

REPORTER: More than a million parents, teachers and students will receive the survey this week. It covers topics such as classroom safety and whether schools have set high enough standards for students. The results will be posted on the Department of Education's Web site and will help the city grade the performance of each school.
