New York, NY —
There have been 852 civil unions in New Jersey, in the 90 days since civil unions became law and an advocacy group for gays and lesbians says, 1 in 8 of them are not being recognized by an employer or insurer.
The group, Garden State Equality, says it's received 103 complaints since the law took effect on February 19th. It says same sex couples will only achieve equality if they're allowed to marry.
