Service for Officer Timoshenko Held in Brooklyn

Officer Russel Timoshenko's life was celebrated in Brooklyn today. The twenty three year old was remembered for his interest in helping others, his love of physical fitness and even his "spot on" Arnold Schwarzanegger impressions.

The two hour service was held mostly in Slavonic Russian -Timoshenko and his family emigrated from Russia when he was a child. The funeral home was filled to capacity so thousands of officers and bystanders listened to the two hour service on loudspeakers that could be heard for blocks.

Mayor Bloomberg thanked Timoshenko's parents for his service to the city and told them their son was posthumously promoted to Detective. Timoshenko was shot during a traffic stop last week and died five days later.
