New York took the bronze for bike friendliness. The award comes from the League of American Bicyclists, a bike advocacy group. It comes as the Bloomberg administration works to promote cycling as a cleaner and healthier transportation alternative. The city is installing 400-500 bike racks a year and plans to have more than 400 miles of bike lanes and paths in place by 2009.
