Disabled Transit Strike Continues

The union and the Paratransit Operators Coalition will return to the bargaining table tomorrow, at the urging of a federal mediator. But, the union representing 1,500 drivers says the strike will continue pending the outcome of negotiations.

They serve about 8,000 people a day in the city's Access-A-Ride system, which provides transport to disabled riders. The walkout began after midnight yesterday. The union had rejected a contract offer a few months ago, over issues of healthcare premiums and wages.
