About the neighborhood: New Brighton is a quiet residential neighborhood that sits along the North Shore of Staten Island about a 10 minute drive from the St. George Ferry Terminal near the Snug Harbor Cultural Center. The area includes a number of homes built before the Civil War, two of which appeared in the movie “The Godfather” as the Casa Corleone. New Brighton is home to a diverse population including African Americans, Irish, Italians and an increasing number of Mexican immigrants.
The Rookies on New Brighton: New Brighton is a nice neighborhood to live in. It is quiet and everyone knows each other. There are barbeques or parties going on outside even if it is cold or raining. Staten Island can be described in one word: peaceful. People who visit Staten Island say it’s boring but I love it and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. – Andrew
I moved to the New Brighton area a year ago. I used to live in Port Richmond. New Brighton is a quiet place. I have lived in Staten Island for about 15 years. I like it because it is a quiet place compared to Manhattan. – Sara
New Brighton is a cool place to hang out. I’ve lived in Staten Island for four years. It’s a nice place, depending on the type of neighborhood you’re in. Staten Island has pretty places where you can go and be peaceful (zen). – Sonia |
