Born in the hallowed halls of Princeton University, Miracles of Modern Science isn’t your average chamber pop band. The group's instrumentation is mandolin, violin, cello, upright bass and drum. But while most bands working with strings are making some variety of hazy, slow, pretty music, Miracles of Modern Science plays exciting, up-tempo rock songs anchored by dance beats, and it's pretty shocking how hard they rock out on classical instruments.

On this track, “Eating Me Alive,” there are chunky ostinatos, disco string riffs, and at one point, a wild violin slide that sounds like it could have come from a theremin or analog synthesizer.
