Alamo Race Track has something of an unusual band name, and the first line of its bouncy single "Apples" is equally incomprehensible: “Little, little insect on tip of my pen/While I was spelling out the future on paper lying next to me.”
And yet, the band from Holland has been steadily gaining fans with its quirky pop songwriting. On top of Alamo Race Track's rich recordings filled with acoustic guitars, strings and clangy bits of percussion, the band's sound has slightly fuzzed-out vocals in glorious barber shop harmonies.
On Monday, Alamo Race Track plays absolutely for free at the Mercury Lounge.
