Singer songwriter Rachael Yamagata was born in Arlington, Virginia and now calls Woodstock, New York home. Her roots may be on the East Coast, but her musical career took off in Chicago. She sang in a funk band called Bumpus while attending Northwestern University.
In 2002, Yamagata released an EP on her own, and now she has three more full-length albums under her belt. Her moody, poignant and melodic songs have been played on the television shows "How I Met Your Mother" and "Grey's Anatomy," among others, and she even made a guest appearance in the 2009 season finale of "30 Rock."
"Even If I Don't" comes off Yamagata's latest record, Chesapeake. On the album, she worked with drummer Victor Indrizzo, who has played with Sheryl Crow; guitarists Mike Viola (Candy Butchers), Michael Chaves (John Mayer), and Kevin Salem (Dump Truck, Yo La Tengo); cellist Oli Kraus (Sia, Duffy) and upright bass player Tom Freund.
Rachael Yamagata performs with Mike Viola at City Winery Wednesday and Thursday nights. Download "Even If I Don't" above or watch the video for the song below.
