Shouts of 'Officer Down' After College Player Shot

Police transmissions from an incident in which a college football player was killed by a New York officer include repeated shouts of "Shots fired! Officer down!"

The only shots had been fired by officers.

The audio recordings of police messages and other evidence are being released by the family of Danroy Henry Jr. of Easton, Mass. He's the 20-year-old Pace University football player who was killed during a 2010 bar disturbance in Thornwood, N.Y.

The recordings start with a report of a fight at the bar and quickly escalate in tone as officers call in.

A Pleasantville officer, Aaron Hess, shot Henry through the windshield of Henry's car. He says he was hit by the car and thrown onto the hood and had to fire to stop the car.

Court documents say the fastest speed the car a college football player was driving when he was fatally shot by a New York police officer was 24.1 mph.

A report by Westchester County police says his car was going 24.1 mph when it hit a police cruiser. A few seconds earlier the speed was 14.7 mph.

Hess was cleared by a grand jury.
