We must have your cooperation as well please send your contribution to your local United Cerebral Palsy affiliate this is Walter Pigeon with an important message for all of you I just came from the United Cerebral Palsy center every fifty three minutes a baby is born with cerebral palsy a staggering figure isn't it and not all of the five hundred thousand sufferers are children an accident or a severe illness may cause this tragic malady many wonderful things are being accomplished through the generosity of you out there but much more is needed because of the increasing number of those afflicted I would like our national campaign chairman for nine hundred fifty four to explain how you can help William Clay Ford Well we're very grateful for the fine work Walter is done and he's right we do need help this you can do by sending your donation to your local U.C. P. affiliate protect yourself and your family help America's cerebral palsy to a brighter tomorrow. The poster showed three dogs and children two girls and a boy with confident eager smiles that gave your heart unmoved but there was something else both goes war braces and the boy was in a wheelchair all three children have cerebral palsy for them and for half a million other children and adults it is a daily struggle to walk to speak to do the simplest things yet they have hope and that hope is your help your gift to United Cerebral Palsy so maybe your contribution right away to United Cerebral Palsy in care of your local postmaster I didn't gentleman this Jimmy Stuart you know the pilot of an era plan is always sure that if he's ever in trouble he can send out the distress signal it goes like that mayday mayday mayday Now a lot call has gone out to all of us form a forced child health day this is the day when half a million cerebral palsy children and adults look to was for a helping hand they look to us for help so they can learn to walk to talk to escape a life of bondage to remember the meaning of May Day the signal in the air to rush to the help of those in need your signal to help the palsied by giving generously to United Cerebral Palsy don't ignore the call for help the address simply and care of your local postmaster and all this is Bob Hope you know it's a standard belief that all comedians want to play Hamlet Well I have no such protection. But I do want to get serious for a moment for this affects the lives of five hundred fifty thousand fellow Americans yesterday that many children men and women are afflicted with cerebral palsy and every fifty three minutes that number is increased the child is born with cerebral palsy but the picture needn't be all gloom United Cerebral Palsy and working to solve the mysteries of cerebral palsy research one day will provide the cure but until then I was stricken I write it every day through psychological and physical therapy we look forward to the time when the dread of cerebral palsy will be a thing of the past you can help bring that day closer by supporting and I team fifty four campaign of United Cerebral Palsy So send your contributions to your local chapter do it now we need to thank you.
