Booker's Plan to Break the Cycle of Poverty

U.S. Senate hopeful Cory Booker outlined a plan today to end child poverty in the U.S., which is estimated to cost taxpayers $500 billion a year.

During a campaign appearance in Edgewater, N.J., Booker said investing in preventative health programs and education is a way to save the country money.

He said he would push for policies like raising the federal minimum wage, offering at-home nursing services for every first time, at-risk pregnancy, and expanding college savings programs for low-income families.

He did not suggest areas of government he would cut to re-direct funds for his proposed policies, but said he would look heavily to public-private partnerships.
