For this New Sounds, it’s the second in a three-part series of new music whose works have been inspired by painters, and sometimes specific paintings. Hear music from Tracy Silverman, his “Matisse: La Danse” with layers of electronic violin, along with the expansive “23 Constellations of Joao Miro” by Bobby Previte. Then, there’s also music by Morton Subotnik, inspired by collage artist Max Ernst and music by Julia Wolfe, inspired by Dutch master, Vermeer. Plus, a work by Daniel Lentz after the famous Palaeolithic cave paintings in Lascaux, in France, in the Dordogne region of southwestern France. And more.
