Hear music by French pianist Grégory Ott, a personal musical interpretation of Wim Wenders’ film Wings of Desire, improvised, much like Wenders is said to have made the film, without knowing its end. The pianist took as his starting point also the poetry of Peter Handke, Als das Kind Kind war (When the child was a child.) Listen to several tracks from this 2021 record. Also, listen to music from the Wings of Desire original score by Jurgen Knieper, the solemn, meditative "Cathedral of Books," “Glacial Valley,” and Laurie Anderson’s contribution for the score, “Angel Fragments.”
Then, hear some of the expansive score to the Wim Wenders' film, Paris, Texas by American songwriter, composer, and record producer Ry Cooder, as well as music by the Buena Vista Social Club, the group of Cuban musicians, directed by Juan de Marcos González and produced by Ry Cooder. Later, Wim Wenders captured the 1998 Carnegie Hall performance by the group, shaping it into a documentary film.
