Brazilian-born jazz musician Claudio Roditi celebrates his 64th birthday this weekend by doing what he does best: toot his horn. The Grammy-nominated trumpeter has played with everyone from Mario Bauzá and Herbie Mann to Tito Puente and McCoy Tyner. At Kitano this weekend, he plays with an all-star lineup consisting of pianist Nick Rolfe, bassist John Lee and drummer Vincent Ector. “Simpatico,” his latest release, is his first recording of all-original compositions and filled with Roditi's trademark lyricism and warmth.
