Public housing residents in East Harlem say their development has been neglected for too long. They gave City Council Speaker Christine Quinn a tour of the Jefferson Houses, and say they want to make sure stimulus funds are properly used to improve their buildings.

Juanita Brye, of the group Community Voices Heard, pointed out the stench in her lobby, and a moldy bathroom ceiling that needed repair:

BRYE: For me to be sitting here six months with my bathroom looking like that means we need more help in here.

REPORTER: Quinn says the council will hold the Housing Authority accountable for the stimulus funds. The Housing Authority says so far it's approved 45 projects that will cost around $150-million. They include fixing roofs, brickwork, and elevators.
