Captain Sullenberger Testifies Before NTSB

Famed US Airways Captain Chesley Sullenberger was back in the national spotlight today when he testified before the National Transportation Safety Board about his splash landing in the Hudson earlier this year. Sullenberger, credited his years of experience as a pilot for his ability to make the necessary decisions to avoid a major catastrophe. He also praised his crew for acting quickly to aid frightened passengers once the plane was in the water.

SULLENBERGER: And so we quickly acknowledged our bodies in a physiologically reaction, set it aside and began to work at the task at hand.

Sullenberger testified the NTSB needed to provide pilots and crew with the training needed to act as quickly in an emergency.

Investigators determined that a flock of Canadian geese hit the engines of U.S. Airways flight 15-49 on January 15th, causing both engines to fail.

All 155 people aboard the flight survived.
