New York, NY —
The Brooklyn murder trial of Cesar Rodriguez continues today. The 29-year-old is accused of beating his 7-year old step daughter Nixmary Brown to death. The defense claims the police conducted a biased investigation.
Defense Attorney Jeff Schwartz spent most of the morning cross examining a witness from the medical examiners office about why DNA samples were never taken from the child's mother, Nixzaliz Santiago.
Prosecutors tried to show it wasn't necessary because most of the blood found through out most of the apartment matched the child and her step father. Schwartz also told a judge today that he had been receiving harassing phone calls, some he described as anti-Semitic.
The Defense Attorney will likely be granted extra security by the courts. The trial will likely continues for a few more weeks.
