Garden State Beach Closures

Several beaches along the Jersey Shore were closed yesterday after medical waste and other trash began washing ashore. Authorities haven't yet determined the source of the waste, which beach goers say included syringes, tampon applicators, gauze and other debris.

REPORTER: Most of the waste was found on beaches and in the waters off Monmouth and Ocean counties. And it's not clear when the affected beaches will be allowed to reopen.

REPORTER: State environmental officials have been notified about the problem and are involved in the investigation to determine the source of the waste and who was responsible for it.
