Lawmakers Fight Over Who Should Further Investigate Spitzer's Office

With four investigations possible, lawmakers in Albany are fighting over who, if anyone, should keep digging into the alleged misuse of state police by Governor Spitzer's staffers.

REPORTER: Governor Spitzer says he's willing to testify before the ethics commission, but Republican State Senator Marty Golden says it can't be trusted because the Governor appoints most panel members.

GOLDEN: I believe that leaves questions out there and I don't believe the Governor can afford to have questions as to if this board acted responsibly or if it didn't act responsibly.

REPORTER: Republicans may hold their own hearings on the trooper spying scandal. GOP leaders also hope the Albany County District Attorney - a Democrat - will open a probe. The independent State Commission of Investigation could also take up the matter.

REPORTER: Governor Spitzer says he had nothing to do with any effort to spy on Senator Joe Bruno. His office maintains no more investigations are necessary.
