Top Rating Goes to Queens Enclave

The Queens neighborhood of Forest Hills Gardens has been named the top cottage community in the country. A decorating magazine called "Cottage Living," which features the likes of "Inviting Porch Makeovers" on its Web site chose the private community in Queens as a "model cottage community."

REPORTER: Forest Hills Gardens, which is located between LaGuardia and Kennedy airports, is one of the country's oldest planned communities. It was developed in the early 1900s and fashioned after a traditional English village with winding roads, Tudor-style homes and townhouses and 11 apartment buildings surrounded by lush landscaping.

REPORTER: The neighborhood is one of the country's prominent examples of the Garden City approach to urban planning, which promotes self-contained communities with carefully balanced areas of residences, industry and agriculture surrounded by greenbelts.
