New York, NY —
US Senator Charles Schumer says he wants to close a loophole that allows pharmacies to sell customers’ prescriptions and Social Security numbers to other drugstores.
REPORTER: New Yorker Randee Lonegan says when a pharmacy at a Stop-and-Shop closed, she discovered that her information had been transferred to Target.
LONEGAN: I went to the supervisor of the store, he said it's been transferred to Target, when I went to Target, Target told me that they bought it and the joke of it is that I asked if I was sold to the highest bidder and their comment was yes you were.
REPORTER: A Target spokesperson was not available for comment, but in a press release, Stop-and-Shop says it did not violate any state or federal laws.
