REPORTER: Community activists say a recent attack on a Sikh teenager at a Queens high school was not an isolated incident. The Sikh Coalition says Sikhs are routinely harassed for wearing turbans. The group's director, Amardeep Singh, says schools need to teach more diversity.
SINGH: It's critical that our department of education takes measures, immediate measures to educate our kids about our differences so that we can celebrate them. If we're going to resolve issues of bias, it's going to be done through education.
REPORTER: Two weeks ago, a Sikh student at an Elmhurst school had his hair forcefully cut off. That violated his religion and now a fellow student is now being charged with a hate crime.
