New York ,NY —
The stampede to raise money for the presidential primaries continues as some of the top candidates visit New York within the next few weeks. WNYC's Elaine Rivera reports.
Not to be outdone by the Democratic candidates, Republicans seeking the nomination will attend several fundraisers in the city. The top draw will be May 17th, where both Rudy Giuliani and his main rival John McCain, will appear at a dinner for the financially-strapped state Republicans.
There was some squabbling over who would headline the event, but a committee spokesman says that's past them now. McCain will be the keynote speaker and Giuliani the special guest. Meanwhile, Democratic candidate Senator Barack Obama returns to Hillary Clinton's territory with plans to hold 4 private fundraisers Thursday and Friday of this week. For WNYC, I'm Elaine Rivera.
