New York, NY —
Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama arrives on Senator Hillary Clinton's turf once again as he holds 4 private fundraisers in the city today. WNYC's Elaine Rivera reports.
REPORTER: Obama, the freshman Illinois Senator, hits the top fundraising capital to raise more contributions to add to his already stunning $25 million campaign coffer. He hopes to close in on his top rival, Senator Clinton, who has raised $26 million in her first-quarter take. Political consultant George Arzt says Obama is a serious threat to Clinton's formidable fundraising machine.
ARZT: It comes as a challenge to Hillary, because this is her territory and it's her turf and it's tough to come in, however, he's treated like a rock star here.
REPORTER: But the latest Quinnipiac poll shows Clinton trouncing Obama, 44% to 14% in New York. For WNYC, I'm Elaine Rivera.
