Spitzer Supports Proposal for Catskills Casino

New York, NY —

Governor Spitzer is throwing his support behind a decades-old proposal for a casino in the Catskills.

Spitzer says the state will work with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe to establish a casino at the Monticello Raceway that he says will produce "significant revenues" for the tribe, the state, and the Catskills region.

The 30-year effort isn't over, though. The deal must get final approval from federal officials.
