Warning for Morning Commute

REPORTER: A winter storm has dumped about 1 to 3 inches of snow and freezing rain on the New York City metro area. Most of the precipitation has been sleet. New York City Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty has some advice for those on the roads today.

DOHERTY: Some of the roadways, particularly the secondary streets and sidewalks may be very slippery. And it be misleading, if there's ice underneath that last bit of snow that comes down - streets and sidewalks might be very slippery.

REPORTER: The winter storm has closed several schools in the suburbs. New York City public schools are open.
