New York, NY —
Mayor Bloomberg is shrugging off Madison Square Garden's lawsuit. It seeks to block the MTA from transfering the development rights for the Hudson Yards to the New York Jets.
The Mayor and his allies are downplaying the lawsuit, saying they expected it all along.
BLOOMBERG: If you can't beat 'em sue is I guess unfortunately the way some people go about it.
Madison Square Garden is alleging the MTA violated its fiduciary responsibility by favoring the jets $210 million bid over its $400 million bid.
The lawsuit also charges the MTA's justifications for supporting the Jets bid were made up to support a flawed decision. For example, the MTA said the Jets bid would assure the extension of the number seven line, even though that project was approved months ago.
