New York, NY —
Delegates of the International Olympic Committee will be visiting the proposed sites for 17 sports as part of it four-day evaluation of the city's 2012 Olympic bid.
The evalutation committee will make nine stops, including the site for the proposed West Side stadium. There, they'll be greeted by the mayuor, the governor, and Jets president Jay Cross.
Deputy Mayor Daniel Doctorff, the head of the city's Olympic bid, says he was asked many specific questions on Monday, but not if there was a plan B for the stadium.
Among the venues being visited today is Madison Square Garden, which would host Olympic basketball, and vigorously opposes the Stadium. Doctoroff says that fight's been set aside, at least for today.
DOCTOROFF: We've managed to separate out the little battle we're having over the rail yards with the support of the Olympic Games.
The Mayor has called the owners of the Garden "lying monopolists."
