MTA Should Get Best Price for Railyards

The head of the state's economic development agency says the MTA should get the best price it can for the Hudson Railyards, where the Jets want to build a stadium. On the Brian Lehrer show this morning on WNYC, Charles Gargano, head of Empire State Development, denied that the state and city are in a hurry to complete a deal between the Jets and the MTA.

GARGANO: We are following a process as we always do at ESD, every project, whether it's 42nd Street, Moynihan Station, we follow a process and anyone who thinks we're rushing it, we are not.

The Jets were the sole bidders on the rail yards until Friday, when Madison Square Garden made an offer of 600 million. Madison Square Garden opposes the stadium, and says it would build housing on the site.
