Spitzer Announces Run for Governor

New York State Attorney General Elliot Spitzer's crusades against everything from corruption on Wall Street to a pretzel vendor company underpaying its workers, have earned him A-1 headlines. Now, Spitzer has announced he will seek the Democratic nomination for Governor in 2006 and will NOT seek re-election to his current post. The news hardly comes as a surprise. Spitzer's intentions were well know. He's already raised five-million dollars. That's more than Governor Pataki, who has not said whether he'll seek re-election. WNYC's Andrea Bernstein spoke with the Attorney General and asked him why he'd run for governor when his supporters love what he's done as the state's top prosecutor.
