New York City's Board of Elections has walked back its latest tally of votes in the Democratic primary for mayor. The board says it mistakenly counted 135-thousand test ballots in the unofficial results released Tuesday.
The erroneous count is good news for Eric Adams, who held a strong lead over his rivals on primary night, but was believed to be just narrowly ahead of Kathryn Garcia earlier Tuesday.
The Board of Elections has removed the results down from its website, and says it will release its new count Wednesday. It still has 124-thousand absentee ballots to count in the race.
