After Shooting Of Two NYPD Officers, Mayor Adams Seeks To Move City Forward

Violence rocked the New York City Police Department Friday night after two police officers were shot while responding to a domestic violence call in Harlem. The gunfire killed 22 year-old officer Jason Rivera, and Officer Wilbert Mora remains hospitalized in critical condition.

These were the third and fourth NYPD officers shot just last week after a spate of violent high-profile incidents across the city. Collectively, it creates a challenging dynamic for Mayor Eric Adams who's been in office since January first. He ran on a commitment to restore public safety.
