Now that the unprecedented Broadway smash Hamilton has added Tonys to its long list of awards, good luck getting in to see the show this year, let alone next. To quote one of the show's standout numbers, you'll definitely have to "Wait For It."
Still, WNYC's Sean Rameswaram was undeterred. With his mom, Chitra, in town for a visit, he was determined to bring her to see Hamilton. And she was willing to wait with him — for more than 12 hours — in the cancellation line, where house seats are typically offered to the public once they're declined by members of the cast and crew.
All sorts of people have been joining the Hamilton line: from aspiring Broadway performers and fans of creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, to tourists and professional line waiters (that is, until the show issued a stricter policy). How may of them get in to see the show? Were Sean and his mom among them — or did they throw away their shot?
Listen to find out.
