Beekeeping, Lenapehoking Exhibit, Independent Bookstores, Some Of It: Michelle Hord, Eric Kim, Stephen Merchant

In this Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 photo, Beekeeper Kellen Henry inspects bees from her Feedback Farms hive in the Myrtle Village Green community garden in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

The weather is getting warmer and the bees are waking up. We talk to Adriana Compagnoni, owner and beekeeper of New Jersey's South Mountain Bees about what beekeepers do, how you can start beekeeping and what to do in case of a swarm. We also take listener calls.

[REBROADCAST FROM APRIL 14, 2022] Tomorrow is the final day of Lenapehoking, a special exhibit at the Greenpoint branch of the Brooklyn Public Library that honors the Lenape people. Curator Joe Baker, who is also the founder of the Lenape Center, talks about the exhibit and his efforts to bring awareness to the history of New York's first residents.

Independent Bookstore Day is Saturday. Lexi Beach, owner of Astoria Bookshop, talks about her store and listeners shout out their favorite indie bookstores.

[REBROADCAST FROM MARCH 29, 2022] On the last Friday of every month, we air some of our favorite interviews of that month as part of our series, "Some Of It." As the son of two Korean immigrants, food has always been essential to New York Times staff writer Eric Kim. In his new cookbook, he shares recipes for meals that comforted him throughout his childhood in Atlanta and the ones he makes for himself here in New York. This includes Korean barbecue, and hybridized Korean-ish meals for one—like Gochujang-Buttered Radish Toast and Caramelized-Kimchi Baked Potatoes. Kim joins us to talk about his new book, Korean American: Food That Tastes Like Home.

[REBROADCAST FROM APRIL 4, 2022] On the last Friday of every month, we air some of our favorite interviews of that month as part of our series, "Some Of It." Stephen Merchant, co-creator of "The Office," "Extras," and "Hello Ladies" (to name a few) joins to talk about his latest comedy/thriller, “The Outlaws,” that he writes, directs and stars in.
