Andrew Yang Wants to Make History. Progressives Are Weighing Their Options

Since entering the mayor’s race last week, Andrew Yang, the former tech entrepreneur who ran for president, has drawn a lot of attention as a political outsider who could upend a wide open election. He’s also seeking to make history—New York City has never elected an Asian American to its top office. The election could prove to be a historic moment for Asian American New Yorkers, but Yang is not the first Asian American to run for mayor, right. And he's not a shoo-in.
