Angélica Garcia’s first albums featured gothic-tinged country-blues and indie rock. But her last album Gemelo (“Twin”) leans in the direction of Latin electro-pop, and is sung mostly in Spanish. As the title indicates, it’s an album about duality: English and Spanish, traditional rhythms and electronic textures, songs of loss and of triumph. The track, “Paloma,” has an exuberant chorus, and even if you don’t speak Spanish at all, you may find yourself singing along with the song’s irresistible, almost chant-like “hey Paloma” refrain. Angélica Garcia plays March 19 at BAMcafé.
