Another One of Cuomo Appointees, Linda Lacewell, Resigns

The fall out from Governor Andrew Cuomo’s resignation continues. The head of New York's Department of Financial Services, Linda Lacewell, resigned Friday.

She also stepped down as a member of the MTA board.

Lacewell was very close to Cuomo. She served as his chief of staff before being appointed to run the Financial Services agency in 2019.

Around the same time, the Governor was stocking the MTA with people from his inner circle. That includes putting Lacewell, and his budget director, Robert Mujica on the board.

Lacewell was named in several media reports earlier this year for helping Cuomo's administration downplay the number of COVID deaths at nursing homes. She was also mentioned in the Attorney General’s report on sexual harassment, which accused her of helping co-write a statement about Cuomo’s integrity, and of working to discredit one of Cuomo accuser’s, Lindsey Boylan.
